Concert at the Reservoir will be Saturday May 15th.
Terry Ring was honored as the recipient of extraordinary service and a donatin of $100 was made by the club to the Rotary Foundation in Terry’s honor.
Mike Henn, our incoming speaker chair noted that he volunteers for all months in the 2010-2011 year except May and June and asked for volunteers to fill in these two months.
Mo Levich and Andy Scheck did recognition honors today. Jay Lifson was recognized for his birthday. Don Anderson was recognized for his vacation ito Belize. Maurice was recognized for being in the process of moving his business three doors down from its current location. Sandi gave happy dollars for her dog pulling through a medical crisis caused by a cattle tick.
Debbie Cooper introduced our guest speaker today, Julia Glyde.
(Note – the following bio is from Julia’s website: Julia is a self-taught artist, born and raised in California. As a child her parents enrolled her in tap, ballet and gymnastics classes where she was bitten by the entertainment bug. At age 13 she joined an all-girl equestrian stunt riding team and performed throughout the United States and Mexico and even learned the Spanish language)
Julia and her husband Dave recently moved from the Central Valley to our area and are currently living in Walnut Creek. Julia is a singer/entertainer who demonstrating her range of appeal and her singing prowess by performing several songs (with the participation of our club) from a variety of styles ranging from Jazz to Country to Rock. She quickened the pulses of our club members by performing Elvis’ “All Shook Up’ with guest vocalists Chuck Vogel and Don Anderson taking turns on the choruses. She performed Richie Valens’ “La Bamba” with Ron, Maurice, and John assisting with percussion instruments, and She performed “Let me Call You Sweetheart” which featured a cameo solo from Bill Eames.
Julia is also the founder of a non profit animal rescue organization called “Animal Agents” When not performing onstage, Julia, along with her husband and her mom currently own and operate a 10 acre property dedicated to housing and caring for animals in need.
Chuck Vogel won $2 in today’s raffle. Don Anderson’s ticket was drawn, but he drew the blue marble and won $5, so the jackpot rolls over to next week.
