| Announcements: The date of December 3rd was announced for Bob Ewen’s funeral services. Jay Lifson announced that he and Polly Bernson were working on a city committee to provide a bike and pedestrian path along the EBMUD right-of-way through the city. Members were informed on how they could help. Chuck Vogel again announced details for the upcoming Holiday Party to be held on December 9 at the Lafayette Park Hotel. The sign-up and menu selection sheet was distributed. Happy Dollars: Dan Baker read newspaper clippings regarding his grandson and granddaughter’s accomplishments and was duly fined. John Sherry announced the birth of puppies to his prize Bichon. Ed Stokes announced his 88th birthday and was duly congratulated, and fined. Speaker: Dino Riggio presented brief personal highlights as a new member. Dino is a hometown boy, graduating from Acalanes High School. He graduated from the University of Colorado and lettered in Buffalo herding. He is involved with real estate and property management and additionally will be graduating from JFK Law School. He has ventured into the political arena and ran for the City Council recently. Dr. Dave Dobin gave a presentation and presented a video about the Civil Air Patrol, with which he, as a pilot, has been active for many years. His son is also active in it. Dave serves as the recruitment officer for the organization and they have about 100 members and meet weekly at Buchanan Field. They do emergency search and rescue throughout California. The Civil Air Patrol has embarked on a program to honor veterans by presenting wreaths to veterans and their families at military cemeteries across America. Their major activity is a big ceremony held at the Arlington Cemetery. His group has taken on giving wreaths to the Presidio cemetery. He provided handouts that showed how members can contribute or participate. The club warmly thanked Dr. Dobin for his work and presentation. Terry Ring won $5 in the weekly drawing. |
