Announcements:
Polly- Golf Tournament update.  Still looking for signups to help day of the event. Looking to get more items for Silent Auction and also for small raffle prizes. 
John Sherry has list of volunteers and jobs for Golf Tournament.  He will email it out.  If anything needs to be changed please let him know by Sept 8th

Jay L- Rock the Plaza was well attended for 3 concerts. Thanked the Rotary for help.  Geoff gave dollar figures for sale of food.  We netted $1328.53.  Special thanks to Mike Heller and John Sherry
Jay L – Lafayette Art and Wine is on and has the signup sheet for volunteers

Town Hall Theatre has a Stop the Leak Fund Raiser.  Any dollars donated will be matched by an anonymous donor up to $10,000

Geoff – Spoke about speaker surveys.  Will send survey out for Sept also.  We received a nice Thank You from the Boys and Girls Club

Kurt Teichmann – announced the Oakland Food and Wine Festival on Sept 19th.  Tickets are $75 each or $140 per couple.  Includes all food and wine.  Money is to support Books for Kids

Mike Henn – Asking for volunteers for the upcoming election to work the polls.  Last time we made over $300 for the club.

Don Anderson – Thanked us for supporting by bringing in school supplies.  Also collected $152 in cash to purchase more supplies
Troy F – Asked for committee volunteers for the Membership Committee

Humanitarian group’s international convention in New Orleans, delayed four years by the storm, will pump millions into the local economy in May 2011

NEW ORLEANS (Aug. 26, 2010) – Five years ago, the devastation wrought by Hurricane Katrina made it impossible for New Orleans to host the Rotary International convention as planned in June 2007.

But even as they coped with their own personal and professional losses and pitched in to rebuild their communities, New Orleans area Rotary club members remained determined that the humanitarian organization’s most important annual meeting would return when the city was ready. Their dream will be realized May 21-25, 2011, when more than 17,000 Rotary members from around the world will convene in the Crescent City for the first time in 35 years, injecting a much needed infusion of at least $20 million into the local economy.
